Artificial / Fake Plants FAQs
Why are artificial plants a good category to stock for my shop?
Artificial plants are a really popular choice for customers wanting zero maintenance, no mess, and all the visual impact of real greenery. They work well in almost any shop environment because they suit so many people - from renters to office workers, students and time-poor professionals. And they're not just for homewares stores - they're a great add-on if you also sell vases, pots, or even furniture.
Do you offer a big variety of faux plants?
Absolutely. We've got lush ferns, delicate succulents, tropical statement pieces, full arrangements and even floral options. We try to keep up with trends - some seasons it's all about cacti and palms, other times there's demand for eucalyptus or monstera leaves. Mix small desktop plants with large floor-standing ones for that lush look on your shelves.
What are your minimum order requirements for this category?
Minimums can vary depending on the supplier and plant type, but usually we allow single units for small things like stems or potted succulents. Some larger feature pieces might have a minimum of two. If you're not sure or want to mix items from different suppliers on our site, just reach out - we'll do our best to make it easy.
How do we clean and care for your artificial plants in-store?
It's very low fuss - that's the big draw card. Most can be wiped down with a damp cloth to remove dust every couple of weeks and then air dried. A soft paintbrush or a hairdryer set to cool is great to get dust off intricate flowers or ferns. No watering, no sunlight required.
What kind of profit margins should I expect on faux plants?
Most retailers tell us that these have pretty generous margins, sometimes up to 2-2.5 times markup depending on the brand and RRP in your area. Larger statement pieces tend to bring higher profits per unit too - especially if you can bundle them with pots or stands.
Are there certain times of year when faux plants sell better than others?
We see sales increase around Spring as people start thinking about refreshing their homes, but honestly these sell year round because they're so easy and never die! Gifting seasons are always big - Christmas, Mother's Day or end of year graduations always see demand spike in particular florals as quick gifts.
How do I display artificial plants in my store so they look good?
Grouping is key! Cluster three or four varieties together at different heights to show customers how they look arranged at home - either by colour palette or different types like tropicals with ferns. And don't be afraid to put them in stylish baskets or vases you already sell - it helps inspire customers and drives add-on sales. Good lighting helps too so they don't look flat.
Are your artificial plants suitable for outdoors?
Most of ours are made primarily for indoor use. The odd one will say UV treated which means it's okay outside part-time in covered spots (like an alfresco area). But generally we'd suggest bringing them in overnight if you want them lasting as long as possible.
What delivery timeframes can I expect when ordering faux plants from you?
On average it's about five business days from confirmation of your order unless something's out of stock. We always let you know straight away if there's going to be any delays and give you options if you're happy with alternatives instead.
Will these work alongside my fresh flower range without looking tacky or cheap?
Our suppliers put a lot into making sure the finishes aren't shiny plastic and the colours feel natural next to real blooms - that's what sets us apart from discount store finds! Many retailers use these as fillers between their real bunches so the display looks lush even when it's quieter during the week, then swap them out when fresh deliveries come in.
